SUSTAINABILITY THROUGH ART & MUSIC

Na:Ku Festival

An annual gathering celebrating and educating art & creativity using sustainable methods.

NaKu is a new festival by Zamna aimed to educate and promote sustainability through art, music and creativity.

In Mayan language “NA” means mother while “KU” means nature. NAKU is the name to show our love for mother nature.

NaKu is highly aware of the environmental impact that such events have and has one very clear goal; to become the greenest festival in Mexico. To reach this goal, the festival is searching for the latest technological breakthroughs and innovations to implement in each aspect of the event.

Repair and operate the Tulum dump compactor

A FESTIVAL WITH CAUSE

REDUCE, REUSE, RECOVER AND RECYCLE

Event tickets will be delivered in exchange for contributions to achieve the goal.

In Tulum around 112 tons of garbage are produced daily, and around 170 tons in peak season. The garbage dump currently in operation is almost saturated.

Tulum’s municipality authorized the creation of one new landfill cell in the dump currently in usage that meets all ecological standards.

NaKu’s main objective is to raise funds to repair and put in operation the existing baling press to give more years to the usage of the new landfill cell while the administration prepares a long term solution.

TULUM RECYCLES

Na:Ku Festival

Local organization run by volunteers, which manages a domestic recycling collection route in Tulum for 2 years.

Every second Friday they collect recycling of private homes throughout Tulum, collecting approx. 2.5 tons of material that does not end up in the dump and, therefore, reduces garbage in general. They educate in events to help spread the message of: REJECT, REDUCE, REUSE, REPROPOSE, REPAIR, RECYCLE and help companies obtain a recycling service. They are currently exploring upward cycling options.

Today they are funded solely by donations and sponsors and in the process of becoming a non-profit organization.
